It's the end of the semester. More importantly the end of the school year. And while I joke and say that AU is an overly expensive boarding school. I wouldn't trade it for the world. While I do miss home, and being a college student is rough, Anderson is one of the only places I would want to spend these years...minus Burnt Gin of course.
Don't get me wrong, I am capable of doing all of this work I have been given. My professors have taught me well, and continually stand beside me; but I also feel the need to stress the importance of a quality high school education...something I feel I did not receive. All the while, I love my alma mater. Airport holds many fond memories, from doing musicals, eating lunch with my mom and best friends every day, raising money for Camp Kemo every year, and finally deciding on my Special Ed major these are the most valuable memories to me. I made some friends, I lost some friends, but most importantly I was a friend.
My list continually piles up. Paper this, paper that. Project here, test there. DON'T FORGET EXAMS. It's a struggle, honestly. The thing that I always revert to when I get overwhelmed and stressed is that I am not alone. There are roughly 2,500 other students on this campus freaking out just as much if not more than I am. The professors here are no joke. Most, if not all have Masters degrees or HIGHER. (Quite frankly, that's just a lot of school and money that I don't have) but really. Plus how awesome is it to know that you have professors and staff on campus who pray for you every night? THEY KNOW YOUR NAME.
Throughout it all, the fact that someone cares...and takes time to know you, and pour into you and your peers and just genuinely care is more than I could ever ask for in a post-secondary institution.
I find it awesome that of all the 100+ students' that work in the admissions office the two ladies I try to strive to be the most are the Dean of Admissions, and the President's Wife. Both Pam and Dianne invest so much time into our university, and the fact that they both take time to get to know the student workers, and actually learn our names and care about our lives astonishes me. I mean you would think they would have better things to do, right? Even if they do, their first concern is the well-being of the students, and whether their experience during the admissions process, and while they are on campus is that of a memorable one.
Y'all it's April already. I have 29 days until I finish with my sophomore year of college. (62 days until BURNT GIN though!) Anyways, the stress of this last month shouldn't' overbear anyone. We are all equipped with the knowledge to complete it...it's just the motivation we are lacking....trust me it's lacking. At the end of your last exam, I want you to be able to say this:
and with that being said, YOU CAN DO IT.
Ps I found a 4 leaf clover today! That's all the luck you need.
Just some food for thought... (no pun intended,)
LG.
